On Sunday, February 21, 2010 we had 11 motorcycles meet and go for a Ride To Eat at the Batesville General Store and enjoy their Batesville Burger. The weather hasn’t been cooperating with favorable conditions lately to rid and we took advantage of it. Those who rode were met with clear skies and temperatures in the 50’s that soon warmed up into the upper 60’s! It was a good day to ride and get rid of winter’s cobwebs.
Our first meeting of the new year was held on January 14th at The Counter Restaurant in Roswell. We had rescheduled the meeting from the previous week because of a southern snow & ice storm that arrived on the day our meeting had originally been planned. We had no less than 17 members in attendance at this meeting! Items discussed were plans and options for rides and events for the coming year. Our President, Frank Huggins discussed a plan to ride to Maggie Valley, NC again this spring and going to the Great American Motorcycle Show that is scheduled from January 22 – 24, 2010 at the North Atlanta Trade Center. Vice President Chris Ehlbeck solicited input from the members for suggestions for rides and places to go on rides. He brought up the idea of a possible Iron Butt Association Ride, which is riding 1,000 miles in 24 hours. Chris also brought up the idea of some rides being held on weekdays for our members who work on weekends. Secretary/Treasurer Thomas Southwell reminded the membership that 2010 dues were due on by January 1, 2010 and that if you haven’t paid yet, you need to do so ASAP. Member Steve Bailey suggested our charitable event this year benefit “My House” and organization that benefits neglected and unwanted children. He also suggested a ride that he takes up to Chattanooga using scenic back roads. Member Tom Patton had suggested the possibility of small number of members riding in charity rides or participating in small charitable events if the full membership was unable to. The Chapter Officers acknowledged this as long as Chapter Officers were made aware of it ahead of time for approval and then reporting the charitable ride or work to Blue Knights International Headquarters.
